Sivakasi review

Vijay(Sivakasi) is a welder living in Chennai.He once sees Asin,daughter of a rich jewelery shop owner.Then,after few interesting incidents both of them fall in love and as usual at first Asin's father opposes their love and later on he gives a green signal.

One day Asin shouts at Vijay that he is an orphan and then angry Vijay slaps her and tells that he has a brother,Sister and a Mother.Here comes the flashback.Vijay's father finds fault for what actually his Vijay's brother(Prakash Raj) did and thus beats Vijay with his belt.Innocent Vijay then leaves the village and comes to city and names himself as Sivakasi.(His original name is Muthappa).Asin tells him that she will marry him only if he comes back with his family.

Thus Vijay goes to his village.He finds his mother and sister being ill-treated by his brother and his father being dead because of what his brother did.All the movable and immovable properties of his father is now in the control of his brother.His brother is also a MLA of his region.The rest of the story revolves around how Vijay makes his sister a MLA and brings back the properties to his family.

Well,Its Vijay who steals the show.This film portrays Vijay as a mass hero.This movie has the best ever Intro scene for a Vijay film till date.Asin as a rich girl looks good.She doesn't have a lot of scope for acting.But still she justifies her character.Comedies scenes in first half is enjoyable to an extend.Post interval the movie starts picking up after Prakash raj's entry.The Vijay-prakash combo is once again proving good after Gilli.

Songs of the film have been choreographed well by the dance master and Vijay as usual danced really well.Srikanth Deva has composed the tunes keeping the mass audience in the mind.But he could've still composed some melody numbers so that the film has a right mixture of everything.

On the downside Director Perarasu shouldn't have shown his face on screen which makes the audience laugh at him.He could've avoided the "Dress code" advice scene to Asin.He could've also edited some of the sentiment scenes pre and post interval which comes as a speed breaker in an otherwise racy and entertaining film.


Overall,the film looks racy and entertaining for Vijay fans and common man who comes to theater for entertainment.Well,thats what people expect from Vijay.In spite of few drawbacks here and their the movie still looks entertaining.

So,if you want to watch a racy and entertaining film by forgiving some drawbacks here and their then go and enjoy SIVAKASI.

Box office report:
This is the only Vijay film post Gilli to recover its production cost within three days of its release.This movie was unanimously declared as a Super hit film in A,B and C centers of Tamilnadu and Kerala.It also did the same amount of business in overseas.The film actually opened bigger than his previous blockbusters Gilli and Tirupachi.But unfortunately it became a victim of the heavy rains in TN and Kerala and thus remind as a Super hit and not a Blockbuster.
