Tirupachi review

Sivagiri(Vijay) is a blacksmith living in a rural village near Tirupachi. He has a sister named Karuppu(Mallika).Sivagiri is very much affectionate towards his sister. He likes to engage her with a city flicker and he rightly finds a person. So Sivagiri now goes to Chennai along with his sister and brother-in-law.Their he meets Shoba(Trisha) and both of them fall in love. But later on he finds some local Chennai dons troubling his sister and brother-in-law.So he likes to take back his sister to his village and wants her to live with their parents. But his brother-in-law convinces him and says that he will take care of his sister.Meantime,Sivagiri's friend Kannapan(Benjamen) gets a foreign visa.So he goes to Chennai. But their he quarrels with a local don and that rude don murders him.Angry Sivagiri then takes back his sister to his Village and comes to Chennai saying to his family that he got a job in Trichy. The rest of the story revolves around how Vijay kills the local dons of Chennai with the help of his friend who is a police officer.

Well its almost a one man show by Vijay yet again after his movies like Tirumalai,Gilli and Madurey.Vijay knows what his fans expect. He hasn't disappointed them.He excels himself in dance, fight, emotions and punch - liners. But his comedy in this film isn't that good.Perhaps with a better comedy track he could've performed better.

Trisha has nothing to perform in this film. Her so called comedies like calling Vijay with words like "Vada .... Poda" weren't enjoyable.Again it was also a poor comedy track. But she looks good in songs.Thats all you can expect from her in this film.

The major plus point of the film is its second half. The screenplay of the second half is very much racy and also caters cinematic logic. You can't expect a 100% logical screenplay in a commercial film. But director Perarasu has carried out the second half in a very racy and entertaining manner with some cinematic logical twists which makes the film very interesting.Especially the way in which Vijay kills those dons were portrayed in an interesting manner.Perhaps the second half is racy as Vijay's previous Blockbuster Gilli.

This film has three music directors. They are Dhenna,Manisharma and Devi Sriprasad.Except Manisharma's melody number all other songs are peppy.Dheena has done a fare job in this film.Especially his "Kumbida pona deivam" has come out well with the audience.Director cum lyricist Perarasu could've avoided writing straight forward vulgar lyrics like "Appan panna thapula".Other wise that song could've also been a hit like "Appadi podu" for Vijay-Trisha pair.

The drawback of the film is its first half. The first half of the film is very much boring.Even though Mallika as a sister of Vijay did justice to her character, the first half still looks boring.Director Perarasu could've concentrated on adding some more romantic and comedy scenes in the first half.In the second half Vijay will be phoning to every top dons and police inspectors of the city.Perhaps,it would've been better if the director had portrayed how Vijay gets those numbers. He could've avoided such small logical loop wholes in an racy and entertaining film.

So if you want to see a Mass Masala film with a racy and gripping screenplay by forgiving its first half, then go a head for this film. This will definitely worth the money which you spend in theater.
