ATM Review

Before writing my review I would like to say something. This is not a Gilli or Pokkiri type movie. Vijay has done something different from his usual movies. So don't go to the movie with lots of expectations.

Here comes the story. Vijay(Guru) is an MBA student. He is also a great athlete. Shreya is also doing her degree in the same college. Now I guess you would've predicted what happens next. Yes. Vijay and Shreya fall in love with each other. As usual at first both of their parents opposes and later on gives green signal for their love. Then suddenly Vijay starts seeing things that's going to happen in near future. He comes to know from a doctor that he is having ESP (Extra - sensory perception) and thus he will be exactly predicting things that’s going to happen in near future. He tastes two bitter incidents, the first one is a child's death and the second one is an accident. Then suddenly he gets a very disturbing ESP where he himself kills Shreya. So he tries to avoid Shreya and thus he goes to Bombay and shockingly he sees another Vijay(Prasad) their. So Guru thinks that Prasad is the one who will be killing Shreya.

Then Prasad, a financier comes to Chennai in train and while coming he meets Namitha and then has a sexual relationship with her and escapes from the train before she comes to know about it. Meantime Shreya accidentally meets Prasad and thinks him as Guru. The rest of the Story revolves around how Guru proves himself to Shreya that he is his actual love and how the true lovers join.

Vijay has proved himself in various departments like dance, fight, comedy, sentiments in his previous films. But in this film he has proved that he can also do a negative role .Hats off to Vijay. It’s his immense performance as a hero-cum-antihero that makes the movie interesting. ATM has proved that Vijay is a versatile actor.

Shreya looks glamorous in modern costumes, especially in songs. But in terms of acting??? Well, she has a lot to improve. Her so called comedies like hopping in temple and other such stuffs aren't enjoyable. She has to improve herself in the department of Acting.

Santhanam’s timing comedies are enjoyable at parts. Namitha is a mere Item-number in this movie as she just appears for one song and climax .Other supporting casts like Ashish Vidhyarthi, Geeta and Ganja karupan have done justice to their roles.

A.R.Rahman has composed some footing tapping numbers like “Maduraiku Pogadhadi….” , “Valaipatti thavile thavile……..” which will be surely applauded by the Masses. The stunt master Fepsi Vijayan could’ve done a much better job. The pre-climax fight could’ve been choreographed much better.

The first 20 odd minutes and climax could have been done much better by Director Bharadhan in an otherwise much racy and entertaining movie. This movie might not become a blockbuster like Gilli or Pokkiri. But it’s sure to silence his critics who feel that Vijay can’t be a versatile actor.

Well, if you are looking for a different film from Vijay and also expecting a time-pass entertainer then go and have fun watching ATM.

Rating - 2.8/5

0-1:Stay away
1-2:Pathetic
2-3:Average
3-4:fine
4-5:Superb

Note:I swear that reviews and box office reports are given as a neutral and not as a fan of Vijay.

Box office report:

This movie is a decent Hit in urban areas and overseas. In B and C stations the movie is just breakeven. Thanks to Vijay's mass image. The movie took a splendid opening but later on the movie started sliding especially in B and C stations as it wasn't a TYPICAL VIJAY FILM.
But no one lost money in this film.
