Sachien review

Sachien(Vijay) is a college student.Once he sees Shalini(Genelia) on a rainy day in Otty. Then Sachien starts loving Shalini from his first sight.Meantime Santhanam,a rich student tries to impress Shalini. But he comes to know that Sachien and Genelia are close to each other. So he tries to spoil Sachien's name by some mischievous behavior. Then Sachien go and proposes Shalini. But Shalini rejects his love saying that she doesn't believe in love at first sight. Now Sachien challenges Shalini that he will make her accept his love within 30 days. After 30 days Genelia comes to know about his true love. Then there is a small twist in the tail.Vijay is the son of one of the top ten richest person in India. Thus Shalini doesn't express her love thinking that Sachien might question him whether she proposes him only for his money. The rest of the film is about how these two lovers join hands.

Its an out and out Vijay's show in this film.He looks very smart and rich in this film.Even though the film has enough scope for the actress to perform, its Vijay who steals the show.Once again he has done well in the department of dance, fight, comedy and emotion. His body language is very much enthusiastic in this film. That deserves a special note.

Genelia looks cute and colorful. But she could've performed much better in this film. Her performance is just okay. She overacts at times and reminds Jothika here and there.

Bipashu basu is a mere item number in this film and has been used just for the sake of glamor. She looks like an aunt for Vijay. The North Indian glam-doll could've been choreographed much better.

The plus points of this film is its first half and comedy scenes.Vijay-Vadivelu combo has clicked once again in the department of comedy.Vadivelu as a college student is very funny and makes you laugh like anything.

Devi Sriprasad has composed the tunes quite well and the songs has a right combo of melody, peppy and western numbers.Especially the "Vadi Vadi" song sung by Vijay has come out well with his fans.

The draw back of the film is its last 30 odd minutes.Vijay being showed as a one of the top ten richest person in Indian in the last 30 minutes isn't a great twist.Scenes like Shalini thinking good about Vijay when he makes a young girl laugh till she dies,Vijay talking with Shalini's mother with a beer bottle and cigarette and other such stuffs in second half aren't acceptable.Bipashu basu scenes are bearable to an extend as Vadivelu comes along with those scenes.Otherwise even those scenes are really annoying and unacceptable. With first half of the film looking cool,Director John could've done a better second half with a gripping screenplay towards the end. Also some Vijay fans will not be liking this film as some of his usual elements like Mass Introduction song and punch liners are missing.

So,if you want to watch a time pass entertainer then go and watch Sachien.

Rating-2.6/5

Note: I swear that reviews and box office reports are given as a neutral and not as a fan of Vijay.

Box office:

This movie released along with Chandramuki and did reasonably well in urban areas and over seas. But it was just a breakeven in B and C centers. The movie didn't cater well with his rural fans as his famous Mass Introduction and punch liners were missing. When compared to his movies like Tirumalai,Gilli and Tirupachi, it's just an average hit.

Enna Balaji , you claim "Note: I swear that reviews and box office reports are given as a neutral and not as a fan of Vijay" but you are repeatly reviewing only Vijay's movies . You are contradicting yourself :)
