Peranmai Review
The movie had a very simple but a nice and an innovative concept. It is pleasing to see such plots in Tamil Cinema. But one feels that the National award director could've made the film in a much better way though he has satisfied the audience by giving an decent flicker.
Jeyam Ravi's performance has been good in this film. He has underplayed his character. Though it was an action film, he never had any over the top punch liners. His physique was good and it was definitely justifying his role of forest officer in this film.
The five girls were neither too good nor too bad. They were quite OK. But one feels that the director could've avoided the filthy language and other such gimmicks of those girls in the first half.
The CG is very very average. Camera work was quite sleek. Foreign actors were quite OK though they could've been portrayed better. Roland alone stands unique among the other foreign actors. The songs were very much average.
On the downside of the film, the director got confused in many aspects. He tried to show that SC/ST people should not be underestimated. But he concentrated too much dialogs betraying them and in the second half, the director never showed a sign of what happened to those forest people who has been ill treated by Ponvannan.
Overall , the movie is a decent entertainer which doesn't bore you at any part due to a new plot(In Tamil cinema) and some decent action sequence.
My Rating - 3.5/5
